The source for twenty years has been exactly that, it has been the source for Hip Hop news and has always been respected for it's 5 mic rating system. Oddly enough the source was created by two white men David Mays and Jon Shecter who were both heavily influenced by Hip Hop culture.
The source remained a power house in the Hip Hop genre until the 2000's when Co Owner Benzino started a feud with Eminem which eventually led the magazine into bankruptcy.
The Source has recently been resurrected out of bankruptcy by the publishers of Black Enterprise. Lets see if the Source can rise back to prominence, they are releasing four limited edition 20th Anniversary Issues the first two that have been released feature Nas and LL Cool J.
